SABMiller CASE STUDY
SABMiller is one of the largest brewers in the world, with a diverse mix of operations, from established Western countries to a strong presence in developing markets. Connected Pictures were asked to make a series of films to help unify and communicate their Sustainable Development Priorities. As a company with such a diverse portfolio, being affected by a wide variety of factors (From human rights challenges, environmental challenges, to diversity, not to mention a product that was viewed in radically different ways depending on the country) ensuring the correct stance in all parts of the value chain was a difficult.
Connected Pictures came up with an approach that levelled the playing field. We created an interview strategy that incorporated thought leaders, NGOs, journalists, presidents, farmers in the field and of course SABMiller employees, including the leadership team. Interviewees included the editor of the WSJ, the CEO of Oxfam, the President of Colombia, world leading environmentalists and many more. All interviewees looking straight down the lens and gave their perspective on the world they saw and the Sustainable Development priorities SABMiller was heralding.
It was a unique chance not to just hear theory from those in charge but see and hear first hand how lives and livelihoods were being affected. The result was over 100 minutes of video content, spanning 4 years and a powerful unified voice that demonstrated the positive change SABMiller was making.
